Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is aware that the community has been encouraged to participate in a gathering this coming Saturday in support of a health care model proposed by some South Muskoka physicians earlier this year.  Some communications related to the gathering contain misinformation.

Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) outlines how the new health system plan will transform care for patients who no longer need intensive hospital treatment but still require ongoing care (known as Alternate Level of Care, or ALC).  This initiative aims to improve health outcomes throughout the region.

Earlier this week, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) announced updates to our evolving proposal for the new hospital developments in Bracebridge and Huntsville following productive discussions with our physicians. For this week’s update, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is excited to share how the great provincial and local investment in healthcare including new hospital builds will significantly enhance the quality of work life for all team members.  Here we are explaining some important dimensions the community may not know about.

Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is encouraged about changes being explored following an engagement session Wednesday evening with the Credentialed Staff Association (CSA) that includes physicians and other care providers from both North and South Muskoka.

After considerable analysis and extensive consultation with stakeholder groups, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is in the process of examining changes to the proposed health system model in the lead-up to a Physician engagement session on Wednesday night.  Potential adjustments include increasing the number of beds in Bracebridge and exploring the possibility of continued labour and delivery in Bracebridge.

With decades of experience in leadership, governance and health care, this esteemed group of volunteers dedicate hours of their time each month to support high-quality, patient-focused care in Muskoka and region.

Over the past several weeks, MAHC has received questions and inquiries about how the Pine Street location was chosen as the preferred location for the Bracebridge site. The purpose of this update is to provide clarity around the process and decision-making.
