Oncology Clinic
Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare’s Oncology, Supportive Care & Infusion Clinic is based at the Huntsville site. The service is provided in a compassionate, pleasant environment by Registered Nurses who are experienced and certified as Oncology Nurses. The clinic also provides care for infusion treatment and transfusion. Learn more in our welcome brochure.
Referrals
Patients needing chemotherapy are initially referred by their physician to the North East Regional Cancer Centre in Sudbury or the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre in Barrie at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre. After your initial assessment with an Oncologist at one of either of these partner centres, you may arrange for Systemic Chemotherapy and/or ongoing Supportive Oncology Care closer to your home at MAHC. Please ask your oncologist for details. Supportive care consists of nursing assessment and follow-up, PICC insertion and discharge, PICC dressing changes, port flush, laboratory work, pump disconnect.

Special Instructions
When you come for your treatment, make sure you:
- Bring your valid Ontario Health Card or insurance documentation with you
- Know your current home address and your next of kin
- Bring all of your medications (in a Ziploc bag), or a current list of medications with dosages and times you take them
- Prevent the spread of infection by telling staff in the clinic if you have diarrhea
- Ask for a mask if you are coughing or sneezing - and wear a mask into the clinic if you have a new or worsening cough and/or fever
- Use the hand sanitizers provided often
