- Be eighteen (18) or more years of age.
- No person who is an undischarged bankrupt shall become a Director or Committee Appointee Member.
- Meet at least one (1) of the criteria set out below:
- be a person whose name appears on the then current municipal voters list for municipalities wholly within the Catchment Area;
- be a person whose name appears on the then current tax roll for municipalities wholly within the Catchment Area;
- be a person who can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Board that they have resided in the Catchment Area for at least ninety (90) of the three hundred and sixty-five (365) days next preceding their application for membership; or
- be a person who is employed or carries on business in the Catchment Area.
- No Excluded Person shall be eligible for election or appointment to the Board of Directors except where otherwise provided in Bylaw. For a full listing of Excluded Persons, please see the MAHC Bylaws.
Become a Committee Member
The Board of Directors from time to time identify members from the community to be Committee Appointee Members and make a valuable contribution to Board work due to the relevance of their expertise in a particular area, and interest in making a volunteer commitment to MAHC.
Standing Committees that may consider Committee Appointees include:
- Resources & Audit Committee
- Quality & Patient Safety Committee
- Governance Committee

Appointments are for a period of one year that is renewable and candidates are requested to make the following commitments:
- regularly commit at least 3-5 hours bi-monthly to prepare for meetings plus attend Committee meetings. (Meeting schedules vary and are provided in advance)
- with notice, attend additional meetings when required.
- be committed to furthering the Mission, Vision and Values of Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare.
- act honestly, in good faith and in the best interests of the Corporation and in so doing, support the Corporation in fulfilling its mission and discharging its accountabilities.
- offer constructive contributions to Committee discussions.
- respect the views of other members of the Committee and the role of the Chair.
- meet eligibility and qualification requirements (below).
