Four Receive 12th annual Board Award of Excellence
Local food, secure rooms and the 12th annual Board Award of Excellence topped the highlights of Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare’s (MAHC) Annual General Meeting on Monday, June 24th in Bracebridge.
“The Board is delighted each year to honour and recognize the outstanding performance and achievements of staff and physicians by bestowing the Board Award of Excellence to four deserving individuals,” says Chair Phil Matthews. “On behalf of the entire Board, I’m pleased to congratulate the recipients and recognize all those nominated by their peers.”
The winners of the 2019 Board Award of Excellence are:

Dr. Caroline Correia, Family Physician
The award is presented to recipients who exemplify MAHC’s values of Accountability, Respect, Optimism, Leadership and Engagement, and recognizes those who have made significant achievements in patient- and family-centered care, outstanding management of people, financial or material resources, successfully completed a major project or special assignment beyond what is normally expected, and/or demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to patient safety.
This year, 18 individuals were nominated by their hospital peers. The nominees further included:

Katie Zammit, Registered Nurse, Med/Surg
Monday’s AGM also included the election of three new Board Directors: David Sprague, Roy Stewart and Dave Uffelmann, and featured presentations about new secure rooms in the Emergency Departments at both sites and a unique local food partnership with Huntsville Community Living.
Further, with the 2019-20 elections within the Medical Staff Association, Professional Staff Vice President Dr. Kristen Jones is welcomed to the Board, joining Professional Staff President Dr. Pierre Mikhail as an ex-officio member.
“MAHC is fortunate to have a diverse group of people bringing remarkable skills and perspectives to the Board,” says Matthews. “I look forward to working with these new Board members and thank them for their leadership and dedication in this act of service to both patients and families and our greater communities.”
