Social Work

Social work services play a critical role in helping patients and families address the impact of illness and treatment.  As part of the health care team, the social worker provides assessment and appropriate interventions to aid patients in achieving optimum recovery/rehabilitation and quality of life.  The social worker also provides supportive counselling, helps develop coping skills, and provides connections to a variety of community resources that can assist with navigating the health care system in the community.

Social work services are available for inpatients, and outpatients receiving dialysis and chemotherapy.  Social workers are also part of the Seniors Assessment and Support Outreach Team.
