Palliative Care

Palliative Care is provided at both the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital sites.  Our focus is to give patients comfort and to support independence and participation in leisure and self-care activities.  Palliative care includes psychosocial, physical and practical support.

Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare appreciates the support provided by Hospice Muskoka and Hospice Huntsville/Algonquin Grace, which through professionally-trained volunteers provide compassionate care so that individuals may live out their lives with dignity and comfort either at home or in a health care setting. 

South Muskoka

Since May 2022, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare has partnered with Hospice Muskoka to provide access for end-of-life hospital patients to five palliative care beds at Andy’s House, a 10-bed facility staffed by specialized clinical staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Hospice Muskoka is accredited by Hospice Palliative Care Ontario and its services are provided by a team of health care professionals and dedicated volunteers focused on maximizing comfort and quality of life for people who are terminally ill by reducing pain and addressing physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs.  For more information about Hospice Muskoka, call 705-646-1697 or email info@hospicemuskoka.com.  Their administrative hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Huntsville

Hospice Huntsville provides care and support to individuals in the Huntsville area who are facing end-of-life situations.  They provide support to families and caregivers in the setting of their choice, including Algonquin Grace, a five-bed residential hospice serving the community, residents and their families in Huntsville.  For more information about admissions, programs and services, please contact them at 705-789-6878, email info@hospicehuntsville.com.  Their administrative hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
