Intensive Care Unit
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) specializes in care for critically or injured patients. These patients have life-threatening conditions and need comprehensive critical care and constant monitoring. Each nurse will care for one, two or a maximum of three patients. The ratio depends on the complexity and acuity of the illness. With this ratio, the nurse can monitor each patient closely and detect any subtle changes in condition.
The highly skilled, interdisciplinary team includes internists, specialized nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, pharmacist, dietician, ward clerks and a chaplain. Together, they provide compassionate, individualized care and consider the family in the process.
Evidence-based, specialized care is supported by state-of-the-art monitoring systems and critical care technology.

Visitors
Families should choose one person to act as the main communication contact with the nurse. This person should liaise with the nurse and keep other family members and friends informed of the patient's condition. This simple process gives the nurse more time to care for the patient.
Visiting hours are generally 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Exceptions are made as needed. We know that the support of friends and family is essential. One visitor at a time is permitted.
