Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is committed to advancing equity and inclusion, addressing bias and discrimination, and celebrating diversity in order to achieve better outcomes for patients, families, providers, and staff. Ensuring an environment free of barriers where all people feel free to be who they are is key to providing the health care that all members of our community deserve in a workplace where our teams are also supported.
MAHC is focused on employing the right people to provide the best possible health care. The organization encourages applicants from underrepresented and equity-seeking groups because reflecting the diversity of our community in our governance, leadership and workforce is important.
In June 2021, the MAHC Board of Directors approved an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Policy. This policy sets MAHC’s commitment and continued path forward by focusing on four main pillars of delivering an exemplary patient experience, embracing our community, empowering our people, and ensuring health equity as follows:
Delivering an exemplary patient experience | Embracing our community | Empowering our people | Ensuring health equity |

MAHC's Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Anti-Racism (IDEA) Committee is responsible for developing an inclusion, diversity, equity and anti-racism action plan for MAHC. The purpose of the IDEA Committee is to:
- Provide opportunities to come together to help chart MAHC’s path forward in an inclusive way.
