2017-18 Budget

MAHC achieved its seventh operating surplus in eight years after finishing fiscal year 2017-18 with an operating surplus of approximately $256,000.  This was realized after receiving a total of $2.3 million in one-time operating pressures funding from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

In May 2017, the provincial government through the 2017 budget announced $13.5 million investment in hospitals throughout the North Simcoe Muskoka Local Health Integration Network (NSM LHIN).  The announcement included $2,559,714 in funding for MAHC.

Hospital funding has not kept pace with many new and rising costs, including salary increases mandated through collective agreements, increasing energy costs and new regulations, many of which are beyond our control.  MAHC originally projected an operating deficit of $4.6 million.
